Greek Foreign Affairs Minister George Katrougalos wrapped up his official visit to Qatar on Thursday. The meetings in Qatar were part of the second half of his tour of the Gulf states.
Katrougalos was received by Qatar’s Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani. Diplomatic sources reported that the meeting confirmed the excellent bilateral relations between the two countries, as well as the Qatari leader’s wish to invest in the Greek economy.

Speaking on Qatari national TV, Katrougalos stressed that “Greece has always maintained fraternal relations with the Arab world, and it is therefore natural to want to develop our bilateral economic relations.”
The Greek Foreign Minister also added that he arrived in Qatar accompanied by many Greek businessmen and he had held bilateral talks with his counterpart and other members of the Qatari government.
The Greek minister noted that the Qatari leader spoke warmly of Greece as an “important player in the region” and that the two sides should find ways to strengthen their cooperation.
Katrougalos then addressed the Business & Investment Forum in Doha, where he highlighted Greece’s enormous potential for cooperation & investment.
