The idyllic Greek island of Antiparos is preparing to host a major international film production as director Argyris Papadimitropoulos gears up for his latest project, Oh, How Fun. Following the success of his previous features Suntan and Monday, the Greek filmmaker is assembling an elite ensemble cast for what is being described as a biting, high-stakes social satire.

The film features a heavyweight lineup of international talent, including Charlotte Gainsbourg (Melancholia), Lena Headey (Game of Thrones), Annabelle Wallis (Peaky Blinders), and Edgar Ramirez (Emilia Perez). They are joined by esteemed Greek actors Angeliki Papoulia and Makis Papadimitriou, rounding out a cast that signals the film’s significant global ambitions.

The film plot centers on an wealthy British family vacationing on Antiparos

Co-written by Papadimitropoulos and Giorgos Georgopoulos, the plot centers on the Skidmores, an ultra-wealthy British family vacationing in a luxury villa. Their holiday is defined by a haze of infinity pools, designer fashion, and a long-standing family tradition: the execution of elaborate, often cruel, practical jokes on one another. However, the leisure-filled atmosphere takes a dark turn when a “grand prank” goes violently wrong. As their privileged world unravels, the characters’ polished social masks slip, revealing the raw, absurd reality underneath.

Industry insiders are already comparing the film’s tone to the sharp class critiques of The White Lotus and the works of Ruben Östlund. Despite its dark premise, the director describes the film as “truly optimistic” at its core, aiming to entertain while exploring the fragility of human behavior under pressure.

An ambitious co-production between Greece, the UK, and Canada, Oh, How Fun is being represented internationally by Lucky Number, with CAA Media Finance handling U.S. rights. With filming slated to begin this autumn, the project is positioned to be a major contender on the international festival circuit in the coming year.
