19th Anniversary Of Estia Greek Festival in Tasmania

The 2012 Estia Greek Festival celebrates its 19th anniversary from the 1st until the 17th of March, 2012. The festival is held under the auspices of the Greek community of Tasmania.

The Premier, Lara Giddings, said events include an art exhibition, a taverna night and Greek banquet, a corporate golf day, and the colourful Estia Street Festival in North Hobart on Sunday, March 4th.

“Now in its 19th year, the Estia Festival has become a key cultural event on the Tasmanian calendar and always attracts a large number of locals as well as interstate and overseas visitors,” Ms. Giddings said.

“The Festival showcases the artistic energy and creativity of our Greek community and is a wonderful opportunity for all Tasmanians to experience this rich culture expressed through food, music, dance, arts and crafts”.

“Estia offers Tasmanians the chance to reflect on the cultural diversity that is an important part of our past and future identity”.

“The Greek community has made, and continues to make, an outstanding contribution to Tasmania’s economic and cultural fabric”.
