662 Cases of Covid-19 Diagnosed in Greece, 301 Intubations Sunday

A total of 662 cases of Covid-19 were diagnosed in Greece on Sunday, 560 fewer than the 1,222 cases recorded in the country just one day earlier, on Saturday.

Just over half of Greece’s cases were diagnosed in Attica, where 333 instances of the coronavirus were identified.

Transmission of the virus is exceptionally high in the center of Athens, where 89 cases were identified on Sunday.

In Thessaloniki, Greece’s second-largest city, a total of 53 cases were identified in the last 24 hours.

A total of 59 instances of the coronavirus were recorded in Achaea, where the city of Patra is located.

172,128 Covid-19 cases diagnosed in Greece

Tragically, 23 people with the virus passed away in the country over the past 24-hour period, three fewer than those recorded the day before.

Currently, 301 patients with Covid-19 are now intubated in Greece, one more than those intubated in the country on Saturday. Of these patients, 86.7% have preexisting health conditions or are over the age of 70.

Since the start of the pandemic, a total of 1,218 patients have been discharged from Greece’s ICUs.

In total, 172,128 cases of Covid-19 have been recorded in the country since the beginning of the pandemic, including all those who have recovered from the virus.

The 23 new deaths recorded on Sunday bring the total number of fatalities in the country to 6,126. A total of 95.6% of those who passed away with the virus had underlying health conditions or were over 70.

The median age of those who passed away with Covid-19 is 79, but the median age of those diagnosed with the virus is 44.
