Covid-19: 1,222 Cases, 26 Deaths in Greece on Saturday

A total of 1,222 cases of Covid-19 were diagnosed in Greece on Saturday, 188 more than the 1,410 cases recorded in the country just one day earlier, on Friday.

Nearly half of Greece’s cases were diagnosed in Attica, where 583 instances of the coronavirus were identified.

Attica is home to Athens, the capital and most populous city in Greece.

Transmission of the virus is exceptionally high in the center of Athens, where 178 cases of the virus were identified on Saturday.

In Thessaloniki, Greece’s second-largest city, a total of 138 cases were identified in the last 24 hours.

Total 171,466 Covid-19 cases diagnosed in Greece

Tragically, 26 people with the virus passed away in the country over the past 24-hour period, which is five more than those recorded the day before.

Currently, 300 patients with Covid-19 are now intubated in Greece, seven more than those intubated in the country on Friday.

In total, 171,466 cases of Covid-19 have been recorded in the country since the beginning of the pandemic, including all those who have recovered from the virus.

The 26 new deaths recorded on Saturday bring the total number of fatalities in the country to 6,103.

The median age of those who passed away with Covid-19 is 79.
