A federal court filing has revealed that Floyd Mayweather’s highly anticipated exhibition match against Mike Zambidis in Athens, scheduled for Saturday, has been officially called off.

The event had been hanging by a thread following a breach-of-contract lawsuit filed by CSI Sports Events—the promotional company Mayweather originally contracted with for high-profile bouts against Mike Tyson and Manny Pacquiao. Along with the lawsuit, the company filed an emergency injunction to block the Greek matchup.

“Because Plaintiffs’ Motion remains pending without a ruling, the Mayweather-Zambidis event will no longer proceed in Athens, Greece, as planned on Saturday evening,” attorney Melissa Glass stated in a formal letter to the court. Glass added that the legal action and threats—both in the US and Greece—effectively paralyzed the event’s promotional campaigns, distribution plans, and ticket sales.

Despite the cancellation, Glass noted that the “Battle of the Legends” clash could still be rescheduled once a ruling on the injunction is made. The legal shutdown came right as promotional momentum was building, with social media footage showing Mayweather already on the ground in Greece for a pre-fight press conference.

Organizers confirmed via social media that while the main event will be postponed to a future date, the rest of the undercard fights will proceed this Saturday as scheduled. “Some battles are worth waiting a little longer to get their story right,” the official statement read.
