Christoforos Papakaliatis, creator and director of “Maestro,” the Greek drama show streaming on Netflix, has not ruled out a fourth season of the hit series.

In an interview with ABC News, Papakaliatis, who also stars on the show, said “People would very much want a season four and I would like to write it, but I need time to think about it.”

Season three premiered in Greece on December 2nd and the entire season has been available on Netflix in Greece and Cyprus since December 3rd. Season three wrapped up at the end of December while it began streaming worldwide a day later, on December 28th as “Maestro in Blue.” The series has been featured in the platform’s top 10 list of the most watched foreign shows globally.

During the interview, Papakaliatis described the filming of the show’s last season as a “sentimental roller coaster,” because “we all got so close, we became a family, the cast, the crew, the production people, so it wasn’t very easy to say goodbye.”

Papakaliatis also revealed the two reasons for the success of his show: the chemistry between the cast, and the Greek island of Paxos where the biggest part of the filming takes place.

He also expressed his love for Greece, Paris, New York and Los Angeles, where he spends much of his time and added that traveling and staying home by himself without doing anything is what relaxes him. “That’s necessary too,” Papakaliatis said.

Synopsis of Maestro in Blue, Season Three

The series follows musician Orestis, who travels to Paxos, a small island in Greece, during the pandemic to direct a music festival. There he falls for an ambitious girl, Klelia, and gets embroiled in the social problems of the local community.

The second season follows up on the murder of Charalambos, committed by Klelia’s brother, Antonis. While Antonis’ mother will go to any length to protect her son, Klelia tries to figure out why Orestis suddenly left her.

Meanwhile, preparations for the music festival continue and Orestis faces more trouble as he is torn between his responsibility toward his wife and baby and his love for Klelia.

According to the official synopsis of the third season after the dramatic death of Fanis, which marked the finale of the second cycle, the new episodes focus on the investigation of the police director who arrives in Paxos, determined to solve the mystery of Charalambos’ death.

At the same time, the main characters of the series do their best to hide evidence that could lead to the real culprit. Meanwhile, Orestis’ relationship with Klelia is rekindled, while viewers will find out if Antonis and Spyros will finally manage to be together.
