Roula Pispirigkou was detained on Wednesday for the homicide of her first daughter. The Greek mother from the city of Patra came under suspicion after all three of her children died within three years.
Earlier on Wednesday, the Public Prosecutor’s Office released a notice of her criminal prosecution for the first degree murder of her daughter Georgina, meaning that the alleged murder was planned, and a warrant for her arrest was issued.
Greek mother under suspicion after all three children passed away in three years
Georgina, aged 9, died in January 2022 at the Aglaia Kyriakou Children’s Hospital in Athens. She and her two siblings passed away in the span of three years.
A toxicological analysis was conducted on Georgina last week, but further tests were ordered by medical examiner Sotiris Bouzianis after a strange substance was detected in her body.
It appears that the substance may have been ketamine, an anesthetic that can be dangerous and even lethal in large doses. It was not included in the treatments offered by doctors at the hospital where Georgina was being cared for before her death.
Georgina was the mother’s third daughter to die in just three years. Malena, aged 3, passed away in 2019, and Iris, who was just six months old, died in 2021.
The Prosecutor’s Office in Patra has ordered investigations into the deaths of Georgina’s two other sisters as well.
As of Wednesday afternoon, no arrests have been made in the cases of Pispirigkou’s other two children.
