Greece Releases Charts Claiming to Show Comparatively Low Covid Cases, Deaths

The Greek government released two charts on Thursday which it claims demonstrate the country is faring much better than other European countries of comparative population in terms of coronavirus cases and deaths.
Government spokesman Stelios Petsas said that Greece is in a better position than some other other European countries, such as Belgium, and the largest coronavirus increase in the country is due to the internal relaxation of measures — not to tourism.
He added that only 0.21 percent of tourists have tested positive so far.
Of course, countries calculate the number of coronavirus deaths differently and not all nations test at the same rate.
The following chart compares the number of cases in Greece to countries with comparable populations, such as Belgium, the Netherlands and Portugal.

And the chart comparing coronavirus deaths between the above mentioned countries:

On Wednesday, the Greek public health authority EODY announced that there had been 217 new cases of the coronavirus diagnosed in the country in the last 24 hours; three more people had died with the infection.
Continuing the recent trend of domestic cases being the vast majority of new diagnoses, only 16 of the total number were picked up at the entrance points and border gates of the country during the last day.
