National Theatre Presents Play "My Mother's Sin" in Ancient Sites Across Greece

As part of the nation’s “All of Greece, One Culture” initiative from the Greek Ministry of Culture, the National Theatre will stage performances of Georgios Vizyenos’ modern dramatic masterpiece “My Mother’s Sin.”
Originally a short story by the Greek writer, the work has been adapted into a play which has been performed to great acclaim at Harvard and Yale and Columbia Universities and the University of Illinois at Chicago over the last two years.
As part of an effort to make Greek theater works more accessible to wider audiences, the play will be performed in English.
The dramas will be presented in a number of spectacular ancient theaters and archaeological sites in Attica and the Peloponnese, including Eleusina, Salamina, Nafplio, Epidaurus and Mycenae.
Vizyenos’ material draws on personal and family memories, and the traditions and experiences of ordinary life in Eastern Thrace, interpreted through the prism of his own intellect and education.
All the performances will be offered free of charge by the Greek Ministry of Culture and Sports. The only fee to attendees is the cost of the ticket to enter each site. Booking ahead of time, however, is mandatory this year.

Directed by Danae Roussou, the plays will be performed by Rena Kyprioti. Music will be performed Nikos Kypourgos.
