Internationally-renowned Greek musician Yanni Chryssomallis is set to perform on Tuesday at Beirut, Lebonon’s waterfront performance venue. Yanni said on Monday through the Xinhua News Agency that he aims to convey a message of peace and tolerance by playing his music in the Lebanese city.

“As we can see, the whole world is tense, so we are going to tell the world to just calm down, accept and tolerate one another. This will be a simple and powerful message,” the great performer said.

“We do not listen to music only when we are happy. Music also has the capability of healing people,” he explained. Chryssomallis says that he knows very well that music has “a very powerful impact.”

The musician said that he is aware that many people listen to his music to deal with various difficult situations they might be going through in their lives, including fighting against diseases. “This gives value to my life,” he added with feeling.

With more than 40 platinum and gold albums globally, this legendary contemporary composer and performer has been a global phenomenon for many years, and his live concerts, with their extraordinary visual effects, are moving experiences.

Yanni’s first performance in Lebanon, as part of his “World Without Borders” tour, took place in 2013, at the ancient Lebanese town of Byblos. Accompanied by vocalists and an orchestra composed of virtuoso musicians, he performed his greatest hits to fans from all over the region.

Countless people have been inspired by Yanni’s music through television broadcasts, and his music has brought millions of listeners across the world together via his concerts. He is perhaps most renowned for his television special “Live at the Acropolis,” performed on September 25, 1993 — a concert which he gambled his life savings to organize.

This spectacular multimedia show, seen around the world, instantly made the Greek musician a household name everywhere, and made it possible for him to play to sold-out shows around the world in the ensuing decades.
