Dramatic Moment Deadly Greek Fire Erupts Captured on Video


Dramatic footage emerged of the moment the fire that claimed at least 96 lives in eastern Attica on July 23 erupted in a plot of land in the area of Daou Pentelis.
The footage, currently under examination by police experts, was released by Greek daily Kathimerini on Tuesday.
The fire is believed it was set accidentally by a local resident who attempted to burn dry wood and grass in the plot.
The first flames, according to the video’s timer, can be seen at 4.41 pm.
The blaze soon rages out of control and aided by strong winds moves eastwards. It soon reaches the resort of Neos Voutzas and soon afterwards the town of Mati.
