Car Graveyard a Poignant Reminder of the Greek Catastrophe

Dozens of burned out cars from the inferno that engulfed the sea-side resort of Mati last Monday have been moved to an open field in the nearby town of Rafina.
Those who survived the calamity are now faced with bureaucratic obstacles to certify that their vehicles have been destroyed from the fire.

Greek media report that there are no officials from the ministry of Transport to assist owners with their inquires.
Many people lost their lives in their cars, as they were trying to escape from the approaching blaze.
The blaze, whipped by gale-force winds, raced through the seaside area northeast of Athens on July 23.
The vast majority of victims died in the fire itself, with some drowning while they were swimming out to sea to flee the flames.
At least 91 people were killed. A total of 25 people are still missing and 28 bodies have yet to be identified, the fire brigade said on Sunday.
