Over 50% of Greeks Cannot Afford 1 Week's Holiday

Shocking new figures have revealed that over half of Greek households were unable to afford one week away from home on vacation last year.
The data from Eurostat shows that Greece — renowned as a tourist destination — was seventh from the bottom of a list of 33 European states showing who could afford time off.
Only citizens of Serbia, Cyprus, FYROM, Bulgaria and Romania fared worse.
At the other end of the scale , over 90 percent of Norwegians, Swedes and Swiss were able to pay for at least seven days away.
Although this latest data is an improvement on the same figure for 2015 and 2016, when well over 50 percent of Greeks couldn’t afford time away, it reveals how citizens of a country known as a holiday destination are well behind the European average when it comes to vacations of their own.
