“Renzi did what was right and necessary, but the Italians did not vote for yes,” said German Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier during his meeting with Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras on Monday.
Steinmeier said the crisis in Italy is “governmental” and added: “it is not a positive message in a difficult period for the EU. In this context I am grateful to be with a partner that shares the same ideas with us, is a friend of Europe…contributes and will contribute in Europe’s cohesion, especially after the Brexit and of course I am fully aware that things are not easy for Greece and its Prime Minister that are facing the economic crisis, the migration issue and negotiations.”
