PM Tsipras and President Hollande: Technical-level Agreement Imperative Before Dec 5 Eurogroup Meeting

Hollande-TsiprasIt is imperative to have a technical-level agreement before the Eurogroup meeting on December 5 and discuss measures for debt relief by the end of the year, Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras and French President Francois Hollande both stated in agreement on Saturday during a meeting on the sidelines of a cultural heritage conference in Abu Dhabi.
According to the prime minister’s office, the two leaders discussed Greece’s ongoing second program review, the country’s relations with countries in the Persian Gulf, EU’s relations with Turkey regarding migration, as well as the ongoing negotiations regarding the Cyprus issue.
Concerning migration, Tsipras and Hollande agreed that NATO’s activity in the Aegean must continue and the EU-Turkey deal must be implemented.
Ahead of Hollande’s visit to Cyprus, both him and the Greek PM welcomed the restart of talks on the Cyprus issue and noted its importance in EU’s relations with Turkey. They also stressed the need to end Turkey’s aggressive irredentist rhetoric.
Prime Minister Tsipras is also scheduled to meet with the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed bin Sultan Al-Nahyan.
