Greece's Creditors Give Positive Assessment of New Bailout Request

EU ECB IMFThe European Commission, the European Central Bank (ECB) and the International Monetary Fund (IMF) gave a positive assessment of the Greek government’s request to start negotiations on a new bailout, a source close to the matter said on Friday.
The institutions’ assessment was sent to Eurozone Finance Ministries on Saturday morning.
An EU official said Greece’s creditors have given their cautious backing to the latest Greek proposals and that their assessment had been sent to the Eurogroup.
“Under certain conditions, they jointly see the proposals as a basis for negotiating an ESM program,” the official said on condition of anonymity.
Greece Needs €74 Billion in Fresh Funding
Greece will need €74 billion in fresh funding, the three institutions overseeing the Eurozone bailout program said in their assessment of the country’s request for a new aid package, according to three European officials.
The €74 billion could include €16 billion from the IMF, should the Washington-based institution decide to participate in the new aid program, the officials said.
