Samaras Meets Cyprus Republic President Anastasiades

No 619573The Cyprus issue dominated talks on Monday between Greek Prime Minister Antonis Samaras and visiting Cyprus Republic President Nicos Anastasiades.
Greece and Cyprus will continue until the end our peaceful common struggle to overturn the fait accompli of the Turkish occupation,” Samaras said after the talks at the Maximos Mansion.
“Greece will continue to support the constructive efforts of the Republic of Cyprus and Nicos Anastasiades both in terms of the process and the essence of the negotiations to solve the Cyprus problem,” Samaras said.
“The talks continue, but in order to reach a solution, the other side will have to display willingness; Turkey should comply with international law and the recent Human Rights Court ruling,” the prime minister underlined.
On his part, the Cyprus Republic president thanked Greece for its support and referred to the Turkish side’s refusal to meet its commitments.“Greece will continue to support the constructive efforts of the Republic of Cyprus and Nicos Anastasiades both in terms of the process and the essence of the negotiations to solve the Cyprus problem.”
Anastasiades pointed out that “together with the Greek government we have decided that the option of dialogue is the best choice,” noting that Greece and Cyprus are EU members and the European dimension of the Cyprus issue will have to be utilized.
“Our understanding and firm strategic course overturn the Turkish plans,” he added.
