Explosion in Peloponnese Injures Two Children


A massive explosion took place in the warehouse of a firework factory in Zevgolatio, Peloponnese, southern Greece.
The owners and two young children aged 8 and 13 years, were seriously injured and have since been transported to hospitals in Athens. The children were taken to Agia Sofia hospital where they will remain intubated and under sedation, due to their critical condition. The boy’s body is 85% covered in burns, while the little girl’s body is 55%.
The owners, aged 35 and 38 years, have suffered extensive burns and their condition is considered critical. They were transferred to Thriassio Hospital and KAT Hospital.
The cause of the explosion remains unknown. However, the warehouse was engulfed in flames and destroyed while the two owners where inside and the unsuspecting children were playing in the yard.
