Greek T-Bill Sale Raises €812.5 M

treasury billsThe Greek State generated approximately 812.5 million euros ($1.081 billion) from issuing six-month treasury bills, as reported by the Public Debt Management Agency (ODDIH).
The rate of these bills so far remains the same as the previous treasury bills, which were issued in July. The average rate was estimated to be 4.2 percent, as in July, finance ministry officials said.
Of the sum generated, €187.5 million ($249.5 million) came from non-competitive offers. The coverage ratio for these treasury bills was 1.77, up from 1.70 for the previous issue, government officials said.
Greece has to pay a premium for borrowing money because of uncertainty over the country’s economic conditions which has investors fretting, although enough are willing to take a chance on higher returns that money can be raised.
