Tourists and visitors are always potential consumers during their holidays, regardless of the time they stay at tourist destinations on Greek islands.
They preferably choose Greek traditional products, while there isn’t any dominant trend concerning the way they combine their purchases.
A significant percentage makes purchases in combination with some other activity in nature, such as sea bathing or going out for lunch or coffee.
A small percentage of tourists combines visits to tourist sites of archaeological interest and to museums with purchases, and a smaller percentage of about 16% combines purchases with their night out.
According to data released by the National Confederation of Hellenic Commerce, the above mentioned are differentiated according to the type and the particular characteristics of the kind of tourism they have selected.
The research focuses on investigating the consumer profile of tourists, the differentiations between variables, such as the way of organizing their travel or their accommodation, and on the recording of their opinion concerning the operation and the benefits of shops in Greece’s touristic regions.
According to early results regarding the consumption pattern of tourists in famous tourism destinations, it seems that the majority of visitors come with a willingness to make purchases during their holidays.
