Forty-one year old Pericles Telios from Melbourne was found guilty of stealing $ 200, 879 when he was a member of the Committee of Parents of the Ward Avenue Kindergarten Association at Oakleigh South. Telios was a known gambler for over 20 years and he took the huge amount to give in to his passion.
Telios was the president of the committee and had undertaken the management of the kindergarten’s non-teaching activities. His responsibilities also included care expenses, equipment expenses, trips and every day needs. The money he managed derived from the fees and several government financial awards. He started taking money from the kindergarten’s bank account and was revealed after the other members of the committee found out that there was no money for basic expenses.
Finally they told the police that they found all accounts empty and Telios was arrested.
