Faith in Politicians Slim: Poll

Greeks indicate their lack of faith in politicians and political parties is growing, a Skai-Kathimerini poll released Friday indicated.
Greeks said Prime Minister Antonis Samaras, leader of the New Democracy Party, is preferred for that position over SYRIZA party leader Alexis Tsipras, results indicated.
Samaras was supported by 37 percent of Greeks while Tsipras had 31 percent and 27 percent said neither party leaders should lead the country. A three-party coalition government of New Democracy, PASOK and Democratic Left was favored over a potential SYRIZA coalition administration.
The New Democracy-PASOK-Democratic Left coalition was favored by 32 percent of respondents while 24 percent said they favored SYRIZA assuming power and 39 percent said they favored neither scenario. Fifty-nine percent said they think a SYRIZA coalition would prevail if snap elections were conducted while 26 percent said they thought New Democracy would be the winner, results indicated.
Seventy-six percent said they believe the coalition won’t survive its four-year term. Only 5 percent of respondents said they expected their own financial situation to improve while 75 percent said they believed things would worsen. The poll was conducted Nov. 1-5. Information about the number polled and margin of error was unavailable.
