The official inauguration of Tripoli’s social grocery was held on Nov. 6, proving that you cannot put a price on solidarity and humanity.
The grocery will be open daily by a volunteer group within the framework of the city’s social policy to gather products once a week.These basic needs, such as food and clothing, will be available to socially and economically weaker classes.
According to the Principal Deputy Mayor Maria Eikosideka, there have already been many family requests to participate in the program. She also pointed out that by Christmas a social medical office will also be operating with volunteer doctors of all specialties.
The Metropolitan of Mantinea Alexander along with the Mayor of Tripoli Giannis Smirniotis, congratulated everyone who contributed to this initiative. Special thanks was also given to the Hellenic Federation of Northern California which offered the amount of $ 5,000 once again confirming the Diaspora’s support and sensitivity towards Greece and the really tough times our country is going through.
