A meeting was held between the Canadian Ambassador to Greece, Robert Peck, and the President of the Hellenic Parliament, Philippos Petsalnikos. During the meeting both parties examined the future development of bilateral relations between Greece and Canada.
The President of the Hellenic Parliament emphasized that Canada is a multicultural society and migrants to Canada maintain the special characteristics of their homeland. The large Greek community in Canada creates a friendship and bridge of cooperation between Greece and Canada.
On his part, Canadian Ambassador to Greece Robert Peck said that he believes that Greece is going to pull through current economic crisis, while Petsalnikos added that Greek citizens are making a great effort in order to prevent further economic recession.
Robert Peck also said that his wife is of Greek origin, and moreover his career as a diplomat began in Athens 15 years ago. Furthermore, he underlined the significance of Canadian investment plans concerning Greek markets.
Finally, both parties wished the Greek-Canadian economic agreement to be completed shortly.
