A charred corpse was found in a rural area of Makrynara, at the municipality of Evrotas after a raging fire that had broken out in the area was brought under control. More fires were reported at various locations, including one in a forest area of the region Volikes of Zante. Ten fire fighters with five vehicles and one helicopter are still trying to put out the fire.
Another fire in Rethymno, at the municipality of Agios Vasileios was also brought under control. The fire broke out at noon, on July 14th and then spread towards the outskirts of the Municipality of Melabon, where it continues to burn down pine trees and dense vegetation. Fire fighters from Rethymno, Heraklion, Moires and Chania as well as residents of the area are helping to extinguish the fire.
Finally, a fire in a forest area of Apraos in Corfu, which broke out on July 14th, has also been taken under control. Ten fire officers with five vehicles and two fire planes were involved in combating the roaring fire.
