In contrast, the Communist Party and SΥRΙΖΑ – as well as an independent member of PASOK Sofia Sakorafa-voted ‘ no ‘ to all articles.
Thousands of workers participated on Thursday morning in the riots of GSEE and ADEDY against the Insurance Bill. Participants are estimated to be smaller than other times (in total an estimated 12,000 protesters took part) which is partly attributed to the public transportation strike.
Parliament employees also participated in the strike. They gathered in the courtyard area outside the parliament, in order to express their protest.
According to GSSE, several sectors and enterprises participated fully to the strike. Shipyards Skaramaga Co. 100%, Refineries 100%, 100% of ships and ports, construction companies-90%, banks-PPC-OTE-ELTA-OSE-EYDAP 95%, industry-craft 80%, commercial shops 80%.
Giannis Panagopoulos, the president of GSEE said, “the fundamental social security rights are not overwritten nor canceled, when a law is voted. The fight for these rights will be constant and long-term. All the means at our disposal will be used in order to cancel these unacceptable and antisocial settings.”
