Tourism is a key factor for the Greek economy; the country has a plethora of beautiful natural landscapes to enjoy and endless cultural sites to visit while the rich history has attracted visitors from other countries for years. It didn’t take long for authorities and organizations to realize that attractive campaigns promoting Greece could boost growth and prosperity.
The first official poster showcasing Greece dates back to 1929, and it’s a photo of the Parthenon taken from the Propylaea by a photographer known as Nelly’s (Elli Sougioultzoglou-Seraidari).

But not all posters were photographs, many of them were paintings created by renowned artists for the Greek National Tourism Organization.
