A 50-foot bronze statue of the ancient Greek Titan Prometheus is rising near SpaceX’s Starbase in South Texas, creating an extraordinary link between one of humanity’s oldest myths and its modern quest to reach the stars.
French artists created the monumental sculpture at Atelier Missor, a Paris-area foundry known for its revival of classical sculpture. The statue, depicting Prometheus holding a torch aloft, is being assembled near the entrance to Starbase, where SpaceX develops and launches its Starship vehicles. Recent reports and images show the massive bronze figure arriving in sections for assembly.

The choice of Prometheus is hardly accidental.
In Greek mythology, Prometheus defied Zeus by stealing fire from the gods and giving it to humanity. Fire represented far more than warmth and light: it became a symbol of knowledge, craftsmanship, technology and civilization.

For thousands of years, Prometheus has symbolized the gift of fire. At Starbase, that ancient fire now has a distinctly modern counterpart: the flame of a rocket rising toward the stars.
