Calamos Investments celebrated its actively managed small- and mid-cap growth ETF with a bell-ringing ceremony at the Texas Stock Exchange on Wednesday, October 28, 2026, bringing together the firm’s leadership.

Attendees included John P. Calamos Sr., founder, chairman and global chief investment officer; John Koudounis, president and CEO; and Yanni Sianis, chief of staff.

The ceremony marked the listing of the Calamos Timpani Active SMID Growth ETF, which trades under the ticker CTAG following the fund’s September 21 trading debut on the exchange.

CTAG brings an existing strategy to ETF investors

The fund gives investors access to an established investment strategy through an exchange-traded structure. CTAG succeeded the Calamos Timpani SMID Growth mutual fund, retaining the same investment objective and substantially similar strategies.

Managed by Brandon Nelson, the fund focuses on small- and mid-cap growth stocks—shares in companies with smaller and midsize market values. Its investment process uses company research to identify businesses with potential for stronger earnings. Under normal conditions, at least 80 percent of its net assets, plus investment borrowings, go into small- and mid-cap growth equities, primarily from U.S. issuers.

Calamos describes the approach as seeking companies with sustainable growth and improving earnings expectations. The ETF format allows investors to buy and sell shares through brokerage accounts at market prices.

A firm with Greek-American roots

The ceremony also brought attention to a global investment firm with strong Greek-American ties. Calamos, the son of a Greek immigrant father and a first-generation Greek-American mother, founded the company in 1977. He remains its chairman and global chief investment officer and serves as chairman of the National Hellenic Museum’s board in Chicago.

Headquartered in Naperville, Illinois, Calamos Investments serves individual and institutional clients. The firm reported $53 billion in assets under management as of September 30, 2026, under the leadership of President and CEO John Koudounis.
