Astoria Park hosts “My Love Letter to Queens,” an open-air photography exhibition by Greek-American photographer Eva Mallis, running through the end of July 2026. Through her lens, the acclaimed photographer captures fleeting street scenes, inviting viewers to slow down and reflect on moments that often go unnoticed in the rush of daily life.

The exhibition features a series of photographs focusing on the people who define the daily rhythm of Queens, New York—the most multicultural county in America. Queens, which includes the historic neighborhood of Astoria, is home to residents who speak over 130 languages and hail from every corner of the globe, building their lives through hard work, family, and community.

Eva Mallis: Why I work with black-and-white photos

Each image acts as a momentary narrative, offering a fresh perspective on everyday activities. Together, they convey the pulse of the times, capturing the resilience, vibrancy, and deep humanity that shape the unique character of every Queens neighborhood.

Speaking about her artistic approach, Eva Mallis shares:

“By photographing in black and white, I eliminate the ‘noise’ of color, allowing me to focus my gaze on bold geometric compositions that tell powerful stories.”
