Dua Lipa Splits From Greek-French Director Romain Gavras

Dua Lipa, the famous British singer has reportedly separated ways with Greek-French director Romain Gavras, saying she wants to concentrate on her music career.

The pair had a whirlwind affair that started in February. In the summer the couple vacationed in Greece twice – on Sifnos and the Peloponnese – and shared photos on Instagram.

Before Dua Lipa, Romain Gavras was dating another popular singer, Rita Ora. Prior to dating Romain, the star was dating Anwar Hadid.

In March, Lipa confirmed she was dating Romain, after they were pictured heading home together from the Saint Laurent Paris Fashion Week show. The last time they were photographed together was in November.

Yet the pair have now reportedly gone their separate ways, as the singer expressed the wish to concentrate on her music.

Dua Lipa has released a new single Houdini ahead of her new album she is currently recording.

The report says the star has recently revealed that her new record is ‘really personal’ and explores dating and finding out whether a lover is ‘real or not’.

She explained on US radio: ‘It’s more the ­different feelings and ­emotions you have throughout the period of being single. It’s also understanding. You understand what you want and what you need and what you deserve.’

Greek-French director Romain Gavras, who recently split with famous singer Dua Lipa, was born in 1981. He is the son of distinguished director Costa Gavras and French journalist and film producer Michèle Ray-Gavras.

In 1994 he created the art collective Kourtrajmé with his friends, Ladj Ly (director of the film “Les Misérables”, 2019), JR and Kim Chapiron, all of whom were deeply influenced by action films, hip hop and the culture of ethnic minorities in big Western cities.

Romain Gavras’ dynamic and sometimes shocking images have often been the subject of public debate and have highlighted his talent as a director. His versatility and ability to capture the spirit of the times allow him to create unforgettable films.

For example, his controversial video clip for Justice’s “Stress” broke all YouTube records, as did his follow-up video for M.I.A.’s “Born Free,” which sparked the genre’s first political debate on the Internet.

In 2012, his music video for M.I.A.’s “Bad Girl” garnered over 130 million views and won Best Music Video at the MTV Awards, as well as Best Director, Video of the Year and Best Pop Music Video at the British Music Awards. In the same year, he made the video clip for the song “No Church in The Wild” by Jay-Z and Kanye West, with which he earned  worldwide acclaim.

After his first feature film, entitled “Our Day Will Come” (original French title: “Notre jour viendra”, 2010), starring French actor Vincent Cassel, Romain released the film “The World Is Yours” in 2018), starring the legendary actress Isabelle Adjani, alongside Vincent Cassel, Karim Leklou and François Damiens. The film was presented at the 2018 Cannes Film Festival as part of the Directors’ Fortnight and received several César Award nominations.

His third feature, Athena (2022), is a contemporary tragedy about an undeclared war plunging suburban France into chaos, premiered at the 79th Venice Film Festival.
