Goldie Hawn and Kurt Russell were spotted in Greece this week where they own a holiday home on the island of Skiathos. The 76-year-old actress and the 71-year-old actor were seen soaking in the sun and relaxing on a speedboat.
Both Hawn and Russell are no strangers to Greece, having been there on multiple occasions and as recently as 2021 with her daughter, actress Kate Hudson, who enjoyed a family holiday whilst Hudson was shooting in Greece for Knives Out 2.
The famous couple, who have been to Skiathos several times, attended a simple ceremony organized by the mayor of the Greek island in honor of Hollywood costume director and film producer Anthea Sylbert and her partner, author and actor Richard Romanus.
The pair have been living permanently on the island for several years while the ceremony was held at their home due to health reasons which prevent them from moving about.
During that visit, Goldie Hawn was seen having the time of her life with social media posts showing her dancing and splashing around in the sea.
Skiathos Mayor Thodoris Tzoumas commented that it was a great honor for a place to be chosen as the permanent home of people that not only fell in love with it but showed a genuine interest in learning about its history, its culture, and especially its people and in becoming a part of its contemporary history, having left Hollywood behind for the island.
Why Goldie Hawn and Kurt Russell never married
Goldie Hawn and Kurt Russell have been in a relationship for nearly thirty years. They met on the set of Swing Shift in 1983 and have been together ever since.
Speaking recently to People magazine about why they have never tied the knot, Russell said: “For people like us, the marriage certificate wasn’t going to create anything that [we] otherwise we wouldn’t have.”
“I don’t know. Forty years isn’t enough to finally say, ‘Well I guess…,’ ” Russell added.
Together, the Overboard actors raised Kurt’s son, Boston Russell, Goldie’s kids, Oliver and Kate Hudson, and the son they had together, Wyatt Russell.
Kate, 43, who has followed her parents’ footsteps and become a wildly successful actress, has never been shy about her adoration for them.
In a 2021 Father’s Day post for Kurt, she gushed over her “Pa” and thanked him for the years of unwavering love and adventure.
“Our great loyal protector. Our dependable authentic captain. Our wild, sometimes untamed adventurer father! From skiing out of helicopters, flying in open cockpit planes, dirt bikes, bareback horse riding, motorcycle rides, boat racing…a childhood and adulthood of adventure,” she sweetly noted on Instagram.
“Our Pa always makes life fun,” she commented. “Always down for exploring, always ready to take on the good life with his family. He’s one hell of a Dad.”
