The Greek-Australian Who Transforms Hospitalized Kids into Superheroes

Greek-Australian Jason Sotiris, recently had a brainstorm in his quest to improve hospital life for children who are fighting the biggest battles of their lives at a very young age.

Sotiris came up with the idea after his young daughter Angela had been hospitalized with cancer treatments for nearly six years.

He decided to replace children’s’ boring hospital dressing gowns with bright, colorful gown/costumes which are all inspired by a team of superheroes.

Designed to be easily put on and taken off, with a series of buttons discreetly placed along the sides, these superhero hospital gowns have literally changed the way children and their relatives perceive the long and sometimes agonizing process of treatment for serious diseases.

The fabric is even X-ray friendly, allowing doctors to proceed with necessary procedures without the need for removing the gowns.

However, the main idea behind these costumes is that they provide ill children with a much-needed dose of happiness and positivity, helping the children to stay strong and keep their spirits up while they fight disease.

The Sydney-based company Sotiris and his friend Yusuf Muklis created ”Supertee.”

Superhero community

Anyone who would like their children to become part of this brave superhero community can purchase their own gown/costume, or even donate funds so that they may be given to other children.

The revenues the company receives will then be re-invested into hospitals and medical research across Australia, proving how one single great idea can become an incredibly powerful weapon for goodwill and solidarity.

Speaking to Australian media, Sotiris asked recently, ”How do you motivate a young child that has no understanding of what it means to be brave? How do you encourage them to keep fighting?”

These were the exact questions which inspired the Greek-Australian to come up with this clever and inspirational idea — which is now spreading across the nation.

As Supertees notes, ”we hope to help lift the morale of sick children and their families, provide a practical solution to issues associated with current hospital garments, and raise funds for all-important medical research into Histiocytosis and other rare diseases.”
