A total of 1,327 cases of Covid-19 were diagnosed in Greece on Thursday, 169 fewer than the 1,496 cases that were recorded in the country just one day earlier, on Wednesday.

Over half of cases diagnosed in Greece were found in Attica, where a total of 676 instances of the coronavirus were identified.

Attica is home to Athens, the capital and most populous city in Greece.

Due to the substantial transmission rate in Attica, and particularly in the center of Athens, where 195 cases of the virus were identified Thursday, the region is under strict lockdown until February 28.

Under the latest lockdown, all stores will be closed, even for curbside pickup.

Additionally, all schools will close, and students must attend online classes only.

In Thessaloniki, Greece’s second-largest city, a total of 129 cases were identified in the last 24 hours.

A total of 94 cases of Covid-19 were recorded in the region of Achaea in the Peloponnese.

Tragically, 22 people with the virus passed away in the country over the past 24-hour period, which is five more than those recorded yesterday.

Currently, 281 patients with Covid-19 are now intubated in Greece, three fewer than those who were intubated in the country on Wednesday.

Of the 281 patients intubated currently, 85.4% are over the age of 70 or suffer from preexisting conditions. Their median age is 70, and 203 of the patients are male.

Additionally, a total of 1,194 patients have been discharged from ICUs around the country since the beginning of the pandemic.

The 22 new deaths recorded on Thursday bring the total number of fatalities in the country to 6,056. Of all those who lost their lives after suffering from the virus, a total of 3,560 have been male.
