The Culture and Sports Ministry of Greece has offered Lebanon help with the necessary restoration work in museums and monuments in their capital city of Beirut following last week’s deadly explosion at the port, according to a statement released by the Ministry on Tuesday.

The statement said that Minister Lina Mendoni conveyed to her Lebanese counterpart  the Ministry’s condolences over the deaths and incalculable destruction of the city through the Greek Embassy in Beirut.

She also said that the Ministry has offered to put together a task force of specialists, including conservators, archaeologists and engineers, to “help to quickly restore the damage to your monuments and to the historical memory of your people” as an obligation and an act of solidarity with their difficult work ahead.
