Greece remains under the grip of a storm system dubbed Penelope which has brought snow storms and flooding to many parts of the country.
The weather system, which has lashed Greece since Sunday, also brought heavy rain and high winds to the entire nation.
Strong winds measuring 9 to 10 on the Beaufort scale interrupted several scheduled ferry departures in Greece on Thursday.
On Wednesday heavy rains caused extensive flooding on the island of Lesvos. Roads turned to rivers, and emergency services were called on several occasions to pump water from flooded basements.
The fire service was called in to rescue people trapped in cars and houses, state-run news agency ANA-MPA reported.
One woman was rescued from her car, while a family was safely transported away from their flooded home in the village of Paleokipos.
On the mainland, heavy snowstorms hit central parts of the nation. The mountainous regions of Agrafa, in the regions of Evrytania and Trikala in Thessaly were particaularly hard hit.
