Turkish rescue teams discovered the bodies of five migrants near the banks of river Evros, where they tried to cross the border into Greece.
According to local news site e-evros.gr, they were part of a group of 11 who attempted to cross the river starting from Enez town, near Turkey’s Edirne last Saturday.
Due to torrential rain and strong winds their boat sank in the cold waters of the river.
Four managed to swim back to the Turkish side and alert the local authorities.
Rescue teams are searching for two people who are missing.
