Fire-Stricken Greek Town of Mati Before and After the Catastrophe (video)

A drone footage of the seaside resort of Mati, before and after Monday’s catastrophe, is a sad reminder of how the holiday paradise for thousands of Athenians has turned to dust.
Mati, where most of the 81 victims of the deadly fire died, was popular with local tourists, especially pensioners and children attending holiday camps.
Many Athenians had permanent residencies in the village, while other would just visit on weekends.
A total of 1,218 houses are no longer habitable in the areas affected by the fires in Attica, according to the infrastructure ministry.
This corresponds to 48.95 percent of the 2,489 buildings that have been checked so far. The remaining 1,272, ie 51.07 percent, were considered habitable.
Overall, 12,760 acres of land was torched, including 6,934 acres in residential areas.
