President of India Visits Greece, Hails Alexander the Great

President of India Ram Nath Kovind while visiting Greece earlier in the week praised the contribution of Alexander the Great to the history of his nation.
“The most famous Greek to come to India was of course Alexander the Great. He arrived at the head of an invading army in 326 BC – but he left as a friend,” he wrote on Twitter.
“Every Indian schoolchild knows of how Alexander and Porus fought a pitched battle and then became allies,” he added.

At a dinner hosted in his honor by  Greek President Prokopis Pavlopoulos on Tuesday, President Kovind said the two countries “have a common stake in promoting multilateralism, global peace and security”.
He also thanked Greece for its support for India’s candidature for a permanent seat on the UN Security Council.
