Racists attacked the house of the Afghan student who took part in an ‘OXI Day’ Parade in Athens on October 28.
11 year old Amir and his family were shaken but unhurt from the attack in the Dafni neighbourhood.
According to the police, the assailants threw rocks at the house early in the morning; breaking windows and damaging doors.
They also wrote a message saying “Leave from here and go back to your village”.
The office of Racist Violence of the Greek Police, has taken over the investigation.
Amir, a student in a Dafni public school won the draw to carry the flag in his school parade, but he was denied the honor and was offered to carry the school’s signpost instead.
The Greek ministry of Education has launched an investigation into the potentially racist incident.
The Parents Association of the school defended the decision to strip Amir of the flag and expressed support to the school’s educational staff for the way the director and teachers handled the situation. However; in a statement, they stressed that they “support all school children without discrimination”.
