There are an almost limitless number of interesting things to do while visiting Berlin, Germany — but it might surprise you that many of the sights you are about to take in have a certain Greek influence to them.
That’s right, there are tons of Greek-inspired monuments and artifacts to check out when you visit the iconic German city of Berlin.
Let’s take a look at the top places to go, things to see and places to stay while in Berlin.
The Brandenburg Gate

Built between 1788-1791 and located in the very center of the German capital, it was designed by Carl Gotthard Langhans and is based on the Propylaea of the Acropolis in Athens. If that’s not Greek enough for you, look closer and you will find that on both sides of the monument there are scenes from Greek mythology.
Pergamon Museum

Here you will encounter priceless Greek history, as the brilliant collection of antiquities includes the altar of Pergamon which dates from the 2nd century BC and its 113-meter-(370-foot) long frieze, as well as the gate of the market at Miletus, which dates back to the Roman period.
The Topography of Terror

Besides history and monuments, there are a great deal of other relaxing ways you can enjoy your stay in Berlin.

You can really get your Greek on here after a culture-filled day in Berlin by enjoying a Greek meal washed down with ouzo, or if you prefer, a great, cold German beer. And don’t forget to stay on a while for a Greek coffee after dinner.
