After an eight-month investigation by more than 800 law enforcement agents around Greece, the police managed to dismantle a crime ring with everything from home burglaries to armed robberies around Attiki and large cities around central Greece and Thessaloniki in northern Greece too.
The police have already captured 30 members of the crime ring, including 10 people who are believed to have played a central role, whereas investigations continue with one member, a person believed to be the racket’s informant currently sought by the police.
The ring is behind the burglaries that recently took place at the home of popular Greek singer Anna Vissi and the home of journalist Iro Kariofylli.
Police have searched through at least 50 homes and areas held as lairs where stolen goods were hidden and have already found large sums of moneys in euros, golden pounds, jewelry and weapons.
The members of the crime ring lived in the lap of luxury. Police found that one of the suspects owned a Ferrari. Other members owned BMW and Mercedes Benz cars and lived in homes worth one or two million euros in the western suburbs.
