What movember? For the past five years, an eccentric mustache awards competition has been taking place at the beautiful, mountainous village of Velimachi, Gortynia, in the Peloponnese. Men from far and wide get together to compete against one another – and only those with the finest facial hair are crowned winners. Mustaches, even priest-like beards are alladmired during this unique event!
Mustache Awards Winners
This year, Christos Giannakopoulos from Paos in Kalavryta was declared “mustache king,” coming first, and winning a cash prize of 200 euros. He was followed by Alevris Georgios (100 euros), Kindis Charalambos (50 euros) and Nikos Skintzis (50 euros).
The competition has been taking place at Velimachi for the past five years and the local committee is inviting contestants from all around Greece for next year.
