A new service for the budget airline, Scoot, will detail the airline’s first long-haul flight with the destination of Athens. The new Singapore-Athens service is a part of Singapore Airlines (SIA) group’s strategy to create more passenger traffic between Asia-Pacific and Europe and to bring passengers to the Singapore hub for connecting flights.

“Guests have requested us to fly to Europe for a while, and Scoot is excited to finally oblige. Scoot has devoted much thought to configuring our cabin products and services to elevate and transform the low-cost travel experience, enabled by our world-first all-787 Dreamliner fleet, and this has positioned us well to mount our first-ever long-haul flight between Asia-Pacific and Europe,” Lee Lik Hsin, CEO of Budget Aviation Holdings, the wholly owned subsidiary of SIA which owns and manages SIA’s low-cost airline Scoot, said in a statement.

The Singapore airline says that its new service of Singapore-Athens will not only be its first long-haul flight between Asia-Pacific and Europe, but will also be the longest flight in operation by a low-cost airlines, making Scoot stand out from the crowd.

The airline says that the new flight service will be ready to launch June 20, 2017 and will be serviced by new Boeing 787-8 Dreamliners with 329 seats.
