Greece's Men's Team Thrash Australia at Water Polo, 10-5

WATERPOLO
Greece recorded another win at the International Swimming Federation (FINA) men’s Water Polo World League Super Final in Huizhou, China. The men’s team beat Australia 10-5 (1-1, 3-1, 2-2, 4-1), climbing up the rankings tying with Serbia in the lead.
Greece blocked most of the scoring attempts from the Aussies, snatching 3 points out of 8 extra fouls. Australia had just one extra man goal out of ten.
“It was a very nice game. The Australian team is very strong but we played better than them today, in the extra-man goals and defense,” said Theodoros Vlachos, team captain. “The secret of our victory was the counter attacks and hard defense. I was happy that we won one more game. We will try to win every game, every day and build up our confidence.”
Australia had bounced back from their defeat against Italy to triumph 13-7 at the expense of Japan, however, they could not beat Greece.”Our first quarter was really good, especially in the defense and extra man defense were excellent against the Greek team,” said Elvis Fatovic, the Australian team captain. “But we struggled with our organization of extra man goals that we only scored one time which was not enough for the team. Tomorrow is another day we will try to play better.”
Greece’s win in Group A brings it one step closer to gold on June 26.
