According to diplomatic representatives, the Heads of State and the Government of the European Union have expressed their satisfaction with the decision of the Summit in Brussels, which took place on August 30.
In regards to the issue of EU sanctions against Russia, after the intervention of Greek Prime Minister Antonis Samaras, the Heads of State and the EU Government made it clear in their final notice that Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) could be used as an alternative energy source in case that the crisis with Russia escalates.
Furthermore, the Greek representatives to the Summit stressed the issue of cost coverage for the losses caused by the EU financial sanctions against Russia, noting that Greece’s losses are relatively higher than those of other member states.
