11 Greeks Drowned in Sea in 48 Hours

Greece, a country surrounded by sea, is a place where residents should be at ease with the sea and aware of its dangers. However, each year the number of Greeks drowning in the sea is rising. Although the summer season has just begun, 11 Greeks were drowned in just 2 days, on Sunday July 6 and Monday July 7. More specifically:
On Monday, the body of a 78-year-old man was pulled from the sea in Chalkidiki, northern Greece. A 75-year-old man was found dead in the area of Lefkimmi, in the island of Corfu. On Monday morning, a 81-year-old man was pulled unconscious from a fishing shelter in central Greece. An unidentified man was found dead in a beach in Saronida while a 78-year-old man was found dead in a beach in the island of Zakyntos. On Monday morning, a 55- year-old woman was found dead in Kinetta, Attica. On Monday noon, the body of a 68-year-old woman was pulled from Vrachati beach in Corinth. Finally, the coast guard of Igoumenitsa found early in the morning the body of an unidentified man.
On Sunday authorities reported 3 drownings in the southern suburbs of Athens. On Sunday afternoon an unidentified man was found dead in the island Fleves, near the coastal area of Vouliagmeni, in Athens. The body of a 68-year-old man was pulled from Vouliagmeni beach. On Sunday morning a 79-year-old man was found dead in the “South Coast” beach in Voula.
