School in Thessaloniki Transforms Into Work of Art

The 6th Primary School of Thessaloniki was transformed into an artistic masterpiece after the school teachers and pupils decided to paint it all over, with representations of works by famous artists. Dimitra Djani, the school’s art teacher stated: “Many Greek schools look like prisons, don’t they?”
The teacher also said that the idea derived from the need to make the place where they spend so many hours daily more beautiful and enrich it with colors and cultural elements in order to bring it closer to what a modern school should always be: a “hive” of creativity and life.
All the school teachers, pupils and the Parent’s Board contributed to this effort. The principal of the school was in favor of this project from the beginning and gave the approval after reaching an agreement with the Ministry of Education.
All children were extremely excited to participate in the project and proudly showed their creations to their parents. The supervisor of the project Dimitra Dzani mentioned that her goal was not to stick to subjects that were taught in class but let the kids free to put their own mark to the school and remind everyone of their creativity and endless possibilities.
