360,000 Germans Cheated by 2 Greeks

moneyGreek police arrested two Greek citizens after discovering they had set up a fraud against hundreds of thousands of Germans. The two men, 44 and 36 years old, had deceived 360,000 people in Germany by persuading them to participate in non-existent lotteries with a monthly subscription of 29.90 euros.
The two men had illegally obtained customer lists from betting and gaming companies, while they were using  specially trained personnel who were contacting German citizens to persuade them that they could win large sums of money, cars, or trips just by paying a monthly subscription of 29.90 euros.
The profits from the fraud exceed the amount of 36,500,000 euros. The two men had set up fake companies through which they were legitimizing their illegal income. They were depositing the money from their illegal activities in bank accounts all over the world so that they could not be identified by the authorities. Greek police,  in collaboration with the German Federal Police, located in Athens, Greece, the houses of  the two men as well as two of the companies they were operating.
In the residence of the 44-year-old man the authorities found a central processing unit, an external hard drive and a USB stick, four passbooks of Greek banks, Greek and foreign business documents and six stamps, one Greek and five foreign. In the house of the 36-year-old man they found three sealed envelopes containing various documents.
After an investigation in the headquarters of the two companies, police found two computers, three external hard drives, four USB sticks,  Greek and foreign business documents, and three foreign language wooden stamps.
